It was in one of these meetings Mubarak Awad met Nayef Hashlamoon from Hebron . Nayef was just back from completing his educational pursuits in Romania and Jordan . It was not long before he also came up with the idea of offering educational opportunities in Hebron , using the philosophy of NON VIOLENCE , to help the thousands of people out of work and unable to secure educational or vocational training .

    Thus AL WATAN center was created . Old discarded chairs and a desk soon found their way into a small crowded office . Family backed Nayef Friends and neighbors came to help . Some volunteered to help teach , others to serve as advisors and consultants with Nayef . Some of these volunteers would one day serve on his board of Directors .
